Development

Overview

Our Development Department is responsible for all community relations between Thessalonika Family Services (TFS) and the community. It is also responsible for numerous fund raising activites conducted throughout each year. These activities include the annual board hosted golf tournament, an annual birthday sponsorship drive, the sponsor a child at Christmas program, and our annual Kids First Campaign. The department is also responsible for writing numerous grant requests to corporations and foundations.

Everyone in the development department has the privilege of working with numerous churches, services groups, companies, and organizations that annually participate in various methods of support of TFS. Some ways of support are through monetary donations, donations of various in-kind items, and others provide through service projects. TFS could not continue to offer the high quality of care and service that it now provides if it were not for the kind and generous support of these many donors.

While TFS receives approximately 75% of our needed funding from the counties that place children with us, the remaining 25% must come from grants, private donations, and fund raising events. Without this vital support our children would not be able to participate in and enjoy many of the same activities that other children enjoy. Activities such as community sports programs, extra-curricular school activities such as band and choir, summer camps, and visits to local amusement parks would all be unobtainable if it were not for the wonderfully generous support from our friends, partners, and the community at large.
