
Thessalonika Family Services is currently accepting applications for Youth Worker positions. The following information will provide you a broad overview of the position as well as contact information for you to speak directly with our staff about the possibility of joining our team.
The Youth Worker position provides 40 hours per week of full time employment working with children coming from backgrounds of abuse and neglect. These children have been placed in our Temecula area group homes where they may live anywhere from 6 months to possibly 3 or 4 years while they glean the benefits of our therapeutic treatment program and learn the skills they will need to overcome the obstacles they face.
As part of a staff team, the Youth Worker will be trained to provide nurture and understanding unique to the children's emotional needs. The Youth Worker will learn to build trusting relationships with the children, plan group outings and activities, help with meal preparation, assist with homework and academic projects, keep the home organized and clean, as well as proactively assist the children overcome the affects of the abuse they've suffered.
Additionally, the Youth Worker will be responsible for transporting the children to various events and activities, assisting the child with the many details of everyday life, implementing therapeuctic treatment interventions, and providing the appropriate role modeling and mentoring for the children while helping them to once again build trusting realtinships with others - particularly adults.
If you have no prior college education or work experience in this field, we will give you the tools and provide you the training to help you succeed in this vital service to special needs children. To be considered for a position you must be able to successfully pass a fingerprinted criminal background check. Secondly, you must have had at least 2 years of licensed driving experience and be able to provided a DMV printout verifying a driving history which satisfies insurance underwriting criteria.
The starting payrate on this position is $9.75 per hour. Pertaining to paid benefits, the Youth Worker position provides annual paid vacation in addition to paid medical/dental insurance, sick pay, paid holidays, and 401k retirement plan.
